Pupil Premium & Sport Premium

The Pupil Premium Grant

The Pupil Premium Grant allocated to children from low-income families who are currently known to be eligible for Free School Meals and children who have been in care or ‘looked after’ continuously for more than 6 months.  It is also allocated to children whose parents serve in the armed forces.

Schools are free to spend Pupil Premium according to their specific needs, however, we will be held accountable for how we have used the additional funding to support pupils eligible for the PPG.  We are required to publish online information identifying the impact of the grant.

We aim for all children to achieve their potential and to eliminate barriers to learning. In order to do this, we ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all of our children and that appropriate provision is put in place for those who require additional support.

At New Monument Primary School we believe that Physical Education and sport play vital roles in the physical, social, emotional and academic development of children, providing pupils with the tools they need to make a positive impact on their own health and well-being.

At New Monument we aim to use the Physical Education curriculum to build on the pupils’ strengths and to introduce them to new and exciting sporting opportunities.

The Primary ‘Sport Premium’ funding for primary schools is a government initiative that has been designed to help schools to develop PE and sports in a variety of ways.

We have allocated our Sports Premium funding to initiatives that aim to progress towards:

  • Increased opportunities to take part in competitive sport.
  • Improved quality of teaching and learning in Physical Education.      NEWMONUMENT 133
  • Developing leadership capabilities in young people
  • Improved opportunities for physical development during play and lunch time.
