Welcome to New Monument Primary School
The staff, governors and I would like to welcome you to New Monument Primary School. We work collaboratively with Broadmere Primary and Nursery as I am the Executive Headteacher, privileged to lead both schools. We are proud to belong to the Bourne Education Trust which echoes our ethos and aims to deliver the very best educational experience for all of its pupils.
Our children learn in a caring, safe, nurturing environment that reflects the multicultural society in which our school is set. We value all children as individuals and we encourage them to develop into independent, resourceful and caring citizens. We value and encourage parental involvement as we consider that a close partnership between home and school is essential for children to gain maximum benefit from their time with us. For this reason we employ a Home School Link worker to ensure our families are supported and we operate an ‘open door’ policy.
At the moment, whilst there is a global focus on addressing the devastating impact of the coronavirus, we are striving to support our children and their families as best as we can. Class Dojos have been set up so that teachers and teaching assistants are available to communicate daily with their pupils. Learning activities will continue to be posted into the Class Dojo page.
The school is supported fully by the Bourne Education Trust and advice or guidance is available to the Senior Leadership Team at all times. The Department for Education provides daily updates and we receive regular briefings from Surrey County Council.
If we all continue to follow the government's advice we can be confident that this time will pass and we will soon be able to enjoy 'business as usual'.
Our curriculum is tailored to meet the needs of every learner in our school. It is creative, investigative and relevant as it is our mission to inspire our learners. Our teachers love teaching and strive to provide real life experiences to enhance their pupils' learning. During the year classes enjoy several educational visits along with on site workshops or visitors chosen to engage our learners with the topics they are exploring. The children’s learning environments are vibrant and encompass indoor and outdoor learning experiences.
Our children benefit from the large school field and playground. Sports coaches and teaching staff provide lunchtime and after school clubs which are very popular.
ICT is used to enhance our children's learning. As well as an ICT suite, we have provided a set of 8 Learn Pads in each classroom so that our children are able to have daily access to ICT.
As a learning community we are committed to ensuring that all staff members participate in a cycle of appropriate, continuous training, relevant to the needs of our school.
I hope you enjoy reading about our school – it will give you a flavour of the opportunities we provide for our children, however, please come in to see us in action as we welcome visitors to New Monument.
